VS Duffy has admitted that she reacted angrily when a US journalist compared her to Leona Lewis recently.
The Welsh singer-songwriter has previously complained about being likened to Amy Winehouse in the media.
In a new interview with the Daily Star, she revealed: "Apparently I'm the new Leona Lewis now, not the new Amy, Lily or Kate Nash. I don't take it personally because it's like a British invasion over there just now, but it can get annoying.
"I told one journalist: 'I'm gonna put something out there for you now that might change the way you feel'. Then I said: 'There's this journalist in New York who uses commas and full stops just like you - and he even sounds a bit like you, too.'
"He just looked at me and I was like: 'Well, how would you feel? How the f*** would you feel? He's just a writer like you.' He got it - in the end."
Duffy also claimed that male artists like James Blunt and James Morrison are in danger of being forgotten by the public.
"Where have they all gone?" she asked. "The male singer-songwriters need to pull their fingers out of their a**** and get writing new records. They need to be accessible again."
