PostSubject: Minor collision at Manchester runway   Sat Aug 09, 2008 8:39 pm

Two planes have been involved in a minor collision at Manchester Airport.

The planes, carrying a combined total of almost 300 passengers, collided as they taxied to the runway, according to an airport spokeswoman.

A Boeing 737-800 of Irish-owned airline Futura with 180 passengers clipped the wing of a Lufthansa Airbus A320 carrying 107 passengers from Manchester to Frankfurt.

The Futura plane was bound for the Spanish island of Tenerife.

There were no injuries in the accident, but both planes are being checked and an investigation has been launched.

The spokeswoman said: 'Neither of the planes will be flying immediately as an investigation will be carried out by the Civil Aviation Authority.'
