Gok Wan has admitted that he needs a counsellor to help him to deal with the stress of filming his TV makeover show.

The fashion consultant revealed that he needs support while he works on Channel 4's How To Look Good Naked because the anxieties of the show's participants start to take their toll on him.

"When you're filming a show like this and you're dealing with women who hate their bodies, you need somewhere to let it all out," Wan told The Mirror. "I'm not a doctor or a psychologist but I have to take it on as their friend, and I realised I was feeling quite stressed out with it.

"If you can imagine eight of your best girlfriends, all of them going through the most horrific time and needing you, and only you, it's a lot to take on board. You become a sponge. Of course I do take it on because I care for them but I need to get rid of it as well.

"But once I've let it out, it's gone. As soon as I stop filming I stop seeing my counsellor."

Wan recently confirmed that he would only ever pose naked for charity.
